Kids & Their Dentist
At Deccan Dental we are ready to see your child when you are ready to bring them in. Typically we recommend that you wait until they have had their first teeth erupt or at least right around their first birthday, whichever is earlier.
The initial visit is usually just a wellness check and we can advise regarding keeping their mouth clean.
Some babies and kids are very uncomfortable in a dental setting and might need to be referred to a Pedodontist. We will make every effort to make them comfortable and treat them in our office before considering a referral to a specialist.
Prepare Your Child For Their First Visit
The best preparation for your child’s first visit to our office is maintaining a positive attitude. Children pick up on adults’ apprehensions, and if you make negative comments about trips to the dentist you can be sure that your child will fear an unpleasant experience and act accordingly. Show your child the pictures of the office and staff on the website. Let your child know that it’s important to keep his teeth and gums healthy, and that the doctor will help him do that.
We have some great books in our office that can help prepare your child. Arrive early so that you can read to them before their appointment.
